Swan Photography

It’s A Feeling, Not Just An Image.

Welcome To Swan Photography

When he was four years old, Asher Swan laid his hands on a camera for the first time. With this magical instrument, he was able to frame the extraordinary world he saw but for which he did not yet have descriptors. Capturing fleeting moments through his lens, Asher felt empowered to communicate the intricate awe of the world as he saw it. His passion for capturing a finite moment and making it infinite led Asher to Southern Utah University, where he graduated with a B.I.S. in Photography with an emphasis in Studio Arts. Understanding deeply that human perception plays a significant role in how images are interpreted, Asher also completed a Psychology degree with an emphasis in behavior and neurology. Throughout the evolution of his work, Asher has found working with light, whether natural or created, to be one of his greatest challenges. Lighting can evoke emotion that would otherwise be lost if the image were not lit properly. With patience and persistence, Asher continues to discover new ways to shape the light in the way that prompts the viewer to feel the emotion of the moment the image he is capturing. Asher’s art has been published in multiple magazines and newspapers across the country, and his work has been exhibited in galleries and shows. Now, as a professional, published photographer, Asher works within the realm of portraiture and fine art photography. He paints with light and consistently keeps his eyes open to the possibilities of a moment that may be captured for eternity, thriving in the creative realm of thought as he seeks out his next photographic venture.

“I absolutely loved working with Asher. Not only did he make me feel super comfortable but all of our shoots were super creative and fun. He also gives great direction, for anyone who isn’t extremely comfortable in front of the camera he helps guide you and let’s you know what looks good. 10/10 so great to work with!

Cheyenne Cruz

“I’ve been working with Asher since 2017, we’ve shot together around a dozen times and every experience has been a positive one. Asher is amazingly supportive and respectful, always making me feel comfortable anytime we shoot. He’s was great to work with as a beginner, he was the first professional I ever shot with, and has continued to help me progress my skills as a model throughout the years. His creativity is next level, always coming up with beautiful concepts or even just a small detail to make the images pop…”

The Swan Photography Experience

Portraits

For a portrait to convey the best in someone, it must be not just a static image but the expression of a feeling. My goal is to help bring out and photograph the best in you. I specialize in studio lighting and love coming into a dark room to create a mood and tell a story with my lights. When you’re in front of my lens, you are a part of the portraiture process, and I make sure you understand what’s happening with your shoot. In my studio, you can expect expertise, efficiency, and creativity. I understand the psychology of portraiture and will make sure the viewer is seeing you as you truly are.

Events

When it comes to photographing events, I pull from my eight years of experience as a photojournalist. In those years, I covered NASCAR events, Ironman competitions, weddings, and week-long conventions, along with simple birthday parties for children. Whatever the event, I look for the moments that tell the story, and I freeze those moments in time forever. I make sure to capture the surprised expressions of friends meeting unexpectedly after years apart, the emotion of a groom watching his bride walk toward him down the aisle, a keynote speaker making her point with confidence before a rapt audience, or the pure delight in the eyes of children at play. When the event has ended, my turn-around time with clean, finished, ready-to-share photos is quick. Every event is full of stories, and my goal is to capture them so that you can share them with others.

Commercial

For over a decade, I have worked in marketing and commercial photography. I love creating images that tell a business’s story and enhance its unique brand in a competitive world. These days, it’s imperative to have great imagery to sell your product or service. I listen carefully to my clients so that I understand their vision, and I make sure the images I create achieve the client’s goal. I believe that an image must be strong enough to stand alone, but it must also be composed in a manner that allows for the inclusion of text or a logo. There is an art to capturing just the right image for a business; the story conveyed by the photo must be deliberate yet at the same time subtle. My goal is to understand your business’s needs and then create the visual story that will attract more customers.
